Job Description
As a Software Engineer at Optum, you will work on the maintenance and enhancement of existing healthcare applications. The role focuses on Java development, SQL database operations, reporting and participation in Agile/Scrum processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Java coding and bug fixing for existing enterprise healthcare applications.
- Execute database updates and queries using SQL.
- Work with databases such as Sybase ASE and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Generate ad-hoc reports using SQL and Excel.
- Participate in daily Scrum meetings and sprint activities.
- Support application code releases and production deployments.
- Participate in scheduled weekend production releases when required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues.
- Follow company policies, security protocols and operational requirements.
- Contribute to application performance and reliability improvements.
Skills & Eligibility
- Graduate degree or equivalent practical experience.
- B.E/B.Tech, MCA or related technical qualification.
- Strong knowledge of Java.
- Knowledge of JavaScript.
- Strong SQL skills.
- Familiarity with Sybase ASE or Microsoft SQL Server is preferred.
- Knowledge or hands-on exposure to AI productivity tools.
- Working knowledge of UNIX commands and shell scripting.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs is an advantage.
